Overview
About Door-to-Site Delivery
Door-to-site delivery covers the whole movement from your premises to the consignee’s — collection at your works, line-haul on the appropriate vehicle, and placement at the receiving plant, warehouse or project site. You contract once and deal with one coordinator instead of separating pickup, transport and final delivery across different parties.
For heavy cargo, the last few hundred metres are often the hardest part of the job, and they are the part most commonly left unplanned.
What we establish before despatch
- Approach road width, surface condition and gradient
- Gate clearance and turning space inside the premises
- Overhead obstructions on the final approach
- Crane or forklift availability and capacity at the destination
- The exact placement position and the receiving contact
- Site timings, gate passes and any induction requirements
Why the final leg is planned separately
A vehicle that can run the corridor is not always a vehicle that can enter the site. Where access is constrained we select a smaller configuration for the final leg, or plan a transfer close to the destination, so the consignment is not stranded at the gate.
Delivery to project sites
Where the destination is a live site rather than an established facility, unloading is planned alongside delivery. Equipment, labour and placement are confirmed in advance and responsibility for each is agreed in writing, so the vehicle is not held at site waiting for arrangements that were assumed rather than booked.
Who uses this service
Manufacturers despatching to customer plants, EPC contractors supplying live construction sites, and equipment suppliers with installation commitments where the delivery date and the placement position both matter.
